Is it too late for you to accomplish your dreams?

I think we all ask ourselves this question from time to time. We imagine a life where we achieve all the things we want to achieve in our minds, but somehow never get around to accomplishing them.

We are either not meant to achieve the things we set out to do or we don’t plan them accordingly. I don’t say this to be a downer, but there are some dreams we have that can no longer be fulfilled. I always dreamed of being a baseball player when I was young, but I never put my efforts into making that a reality. Can I still get involved in baseball? Yes. I can coach my daughter’s softball team, focus on writing about baseball, or even join my company’s sports team, but I may never get to play in a major league game at my age.

The sun may have set on my baseball dream, but that is only one of thousands. I have so may dreams set for myself that simply live in my head, dreams I never told anybody. I realized that If I was ever going to make them a reality, I needed to start writing them down.

I am not a believer that a person can do anything they set their mind to because I think there are many factors that contribute to one’s success and timing is one of them. I do believe though that we can do most of what we set out for ourselves if we create a strategic plan.

I want to challenge you with a simple process on making your dreams come true. What I mean by “Dreams” are those goals and ambitions you have inside of you. The things that you always talk about doing, but never actually do.

Maybe for you this is a journal or a diary. For me it is the “Reminder” app on my iPhone. I created a list called “Dreams”. Every now and then I peruse the list, add new dreams, and cross of accomplished ones. These range from places I want to visit, screenplays I want to write, and health goals I want to obtain. Here is the first page my “Dream List”.
