Can a sugar tax fix obesity

Today is the beginning of a new era in the UK.

For the first time in its history, the country’s government decided to step up in its fight against obesity.

The UK has got the higher proportion of overweight and obese within its population. And this number is raising at alarming rate.

The UK sugar tax has been passed by the parliament last year and is now in full effect as of today.

The immediate effect of this new law is two fold.

In essence, this means that as a customer, you and I could face higher prices when shopping for our sugary fix.

But is this the solution to the obesity crisis of the nation?

Look at it this way. If the government trusted you so much. If they knew you would pay your taxes on time, they wouldn’t be automatically deduct it from your wages. duh!

It’s understandable that the UK government is trying to reduce the burden of obesity on its National Health System.

However it seems that the same government is making shit load of money in the process.

From previous initiatives on plastic bags, cigarettes and alcohol, the UK government seems to have the numbers to back up this type of measures.

The questions I keep asking myself, and still looking for answers are those:
