The beginning

Saying I peaked in high school is kind of like saying rainbows are green — technically true, but in a very limited kind of way. Peaking in high school has the general vibe of the high school…

Reevaluate our problems

Sometimes I believe as Christians we can take our problems and blow them way out of proportion. What I mean by that is we see the situation before us and make more of it than what it actually is. We need to realize the situation may be more black and white In reality.

Now, some situations are tough. For example; a hurt marriage, family members making wrong choices, friendships feeling betrayed, and people turning to drinking, drug abuse or self harm as an outlet. Those things are serious, but at the same time, we look at what we have before us and our heart breaks and it feels like our world is a mess.

We may lose sleep due to these situations, and I know I have, but as believers we see the seriousness of the situation before us and we can either let it cripple us and ruin the things we have or we can surrender it to God and lay it at His feet. All of our fears, worries, insecurities, and doubts that cripple us; we must lay these things at the feet of Jesus. These problems must bow before the Prince of Peace because He is our ultimate source of peace.

We must always remember in worship and prayer to sit at the feet of Jesus. We need to still our soul, mind, and heart, and surrender these things to God our Father — and for some of us, that surrender is every second of the day. And that is okay! If you read in the Psalms, David was in a situation where he asks God why he has to wrestle with his thoughts and have sorrow in his heart for so long and why he feels like his enemies and fears are overtaking him. But as you read a few more verses David says, “but God I trust in your unfailing love for me. My heart rejoices in your salvation.” David says, “I will sing to the Lord for He has been good to me.”

This makes me think; as a Christian if I truly believe in what I sing during worship and I truly believe in what I pray then I must realize that although I will feel uncertainty at times, I will not let uncertainty cripple me, for I know whose I am, and I am God’s.

No matter the situation, I tend to think we like to feel the weight of it all and make the situation all about us, when in reality, it is not our fight. God is fighting for us and He goes before us. The situation may look awful, but we must decide if we are going to allow it to cripple us and defeat us, or if we are going to give it to God and continue to love those around us.

God has given us so many chances time and time again and He still loves us. No matter what situation you’re facing today, give it to God, rest at His feet, and give people a second chance, because God has given us so many. Show people love through it all.

Sometimes the pain and brokenness we or others face has gone on for so long that we can’t expect it all to be fixed in a day’s time; it’s gonna take a awhile and we have to trust the process. We must pray and worship fiercely until you know God is for you. He is for you. He is for your family. He is for your friends. Trust the process and let God do what He does best, and rest assured it’s going to be okay.
