The camera that began it all

Sony a6000

I have always had this sensation for cameras and it is that they allow you to capture moments in time whether they be in videos or photos. I remember the very first camera I had was a GoPro HERO 4 and it was a lot of fun especially for its wide angle. But that camera didn’t last long and it wasn’t a camera in which I could grow as a professional photographer or as a videographer I thought.

When I was starting out, I got into videography a lot and I really wanted something that I could adjust manually such as exposure or depth of field. As I watched countless of youtube videos, I realized that the best camera was a Interchangeable Lens Camera, but in this age of technology the question was which.

I enjoyed watching Casey Neistat’s videos on youtube and was pretty familiar with the quality of the camera he used which was a Canon 80D back in the day. It was a DSLR camera with an APS-C sensor. You could change the lenses on that camera and It was a little more than a 1000 dollars. My eyes were set, I began to save money and looked online to see if I could find a deal.

To my surprise, that was not my best beginner camera. As I was taking classes in college, I had a classmate who was in the same position as me in that he wanted to buy a camera too, and he told me he would go to Sony. I had heard of Sony cameras before such as the cybershots, but never heard too much about the middle range ILC (Interchangeable Lens Camera) cameras. He told me that he was looking into the Sony a6000 which was a mirrorless camera

Mirrorless kept going through my head and I could just not understand. I didn’t have the deepest knowledge on cameras, but I had seen how DSLRs have a mirror that turns back and forth for each picture. This was a new technology and it was at the time when Sony was among the few doing this and it was revolutionary. As I watched reviews from the camera, I knew it was a good camera, but being a no camera expert at the time, the factor that convinced me the most was the price which was almost 400 dollars less than the canon 80D.

It wasn’t until I bought the camera, when I discovered what a mirrorless camera…
